Robert Frost: Poems
Fire and Ice by Robert Frost
Fire and ice would you rather burn or freeze to death? why? has the idea of this question become desensitized over the past one hundred years especially in contemporary society?

The first part of your question calls for your opinion, there is no right or wrong answer. If this subject has become desensitized of the last one-hundred years, it is likely due to technology. If someone gets stranded in their car, they usually have a cell phone. People are in contack in multiple ways, 24 hours per day. One-hundred years you ago, it was impossible to leave on a trip in the middle of winter and check in along the way. A person couldn't call and say, "Hey, I have a flat tire!" Nor, could they call a tow truck or roadside assistance.
A fire would be a different situation. House still burn, firemen still save people from burning buildings.... the difference now is in the communication and response time.
