Editions for English versions of The Marriage of Figaro vary widely, even to the point of character names being changed. The major plot lines remain mostly consistent, but the flow and authenticity of the dialogue is very different from editor to editor. Also, the quantity of resources included in the edition (i.e., biographical information or chronology of historical events surrounding the publication of the play) range from almost none in the Holcroft translation to substantial scholarly analysis in the Oxford World Classics edition of The Figaro Trilogy: The Barber of Seville, The Marriage of Figaro, The Guilty Mother.
