The King's Stilts Imagery

The King's Stilts Imagery

Lord Droon

Lord Droon is portrayed as being a very stuffy and malicious adult. His personality is directly contrasted with that of the King. The stark contrast between the two only serves to highlight their different approaches towards their role and how they view the world.

The King

The King is shown to be both a hardworking and diligent individual as well as someone who knows how to relax and have fun. He has a great work-life balance but this is interrupted by the theft of his stilts.

Nizzards

The Nizzards evoke images of darkness and death. Indeed, the drawings in the book resemble that of ravens. Hence, the introduction of the nizzards foreshadows the theft of the stilts as they are often thought to symbolize loss.

Stilt walking

Stilt walking is considered to be an unusual and unique hobby in the real world but in this story, it is thought to be the norm. The concept of stilts evokes humor to a young reader but also a desire to participate in their own creative outlets.
