How does Liesel impact Max?

Max and Liesel have things in common. They both have nightmares, and as a result, Liesel becomes someone that Max can share with. They also share "survivor's guilt"..... Liesel's guilt over her brother, and Max's guilt for having been the only survivor from his family. Liesel also cares for Max by watching over him.
