A large gathering of people.

beasty

A real or mythical creature. Maleficent calls Aurora the nickname "beasty," which connotes monstrousness.

bestow

To give a present or an honor.

camouflaged

A disguised person or object that appears to be part of its surroundings.

despondent

Saddened and disappointed to a high degree.

fairy

A mythical creature often associated with nature. The creatures who live in the Moors are considered fairies.

headwind

A wind blowing directly against the direction in which one is traveling

maleficent

Causing damage or destruction, particularly through magical means. "Maleficent" is the name of the film's titular character.

pitchfork

A farming tool that can be used as a weapon. Pitchforks are often associated with angry mobs.

pixies

Small, humanlike supernatural beings. Knotgrass, Thistlewit, and Flittle are interchangeably called pixies and fairies.

quaint

Charmingly old-fashioned or poor.

rabble

A disorderly or uncivilized crowd.

scathing

A disapproving or condemning tone or attitude.

sinisterly

In a threatening manner.

spindle

A straight spike used to hold fibers such as yarn or thread.

spinning wheel

A device used to spin raw fibers into thread.

In Maleficent, the Moors is the natural realm where magical creatures live in harmony. "Moors" refers to an upland habitat characterized by uninterrupted shrubs and grasslands.

trawl

To drag or heave something.

vanquish

To defeat thoroughly, through death or total destruction.

vengeance

A punishment inflicted on another for the purpose of exacting revenge.
