Danse Russe

Danse Russe Summary

The poem begins as the speaker's wife and child are asleep and the sun is rising. The speaker stands naked before his mirror. He dances and waves his shirt above his head. He sings to himself quietly with joking lyrics about loneliness. He then looks at himself in the mirror, enumerating various parts of his body. At the conclusion of the text, he declares himself the "happy genius" of his household.
