What cruel action does Heathcliff take to warn Isabella not to marry him? In what ways does the action symbolize, or represent, their married life?

Basically Heathcliff tells Isabella that he does not love her. This lack of love pretty much represents their union. Her unhappy marriage brings out an element of cruelty in her character: when her husband treats her brutally, she rapidly grows to hate him with all her heart.
