Twelve Years a Slave

In the end of his narrative, Northup worries that he may have presented to the reader "too prominently the bright side of the picture" of slavery (p.217). Do you agree with his assessment? Why or why not?

I don't think that there was anything "bright" about his experience. I think his point was that there were many others who went through similar or even worse hardships than him.
