What is it that Miss Maudie does that makes her a favorite of not only Scout but Jem and Dill too?

Some of the reasons the children loved Miss. Maudie were because they could "play on her lawn, eat her scuppernongs if we didn’t jump on the arbor, and explore her vast back lot." Miss Maudie was like family.
