Few people in this world deserve to die. The man may not have deserved his fate but I think London's greater theme is the unforgivingness of the elements. Nature does not share the same value system of people. THe man simply did not heed nature's warnings and continued his journey. Like any other animal in the wild he made a mistake and paid for it.
