Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog)

Humour arises out of the unusual behaviour of the characters in Three Men in a Boat. Comment.

from the novel 3 men in a boat by Jerome K Jerome

I would say the humor more like results from their inexperience and lack of knowledge..... they really don't know what they're doing, but they do the best they can. We have three men who don't know how to pack, seem to never have camped, put up a tent, or even cooked for themselves. They have a difficult time maneuvering the boat and suffer from a lack of planning when they arrive in a town..... they disagree on important stopping points and have misrepresented their abilities. They're a comedy routine because each man knows less than the other.
