Although certainly unlike the intended audience's culture (presumably Western, liberal democratic) in that there is accepted polygamy and domestic violence, Ibo culture is nonetheless committed to family solidarity. Okonkwo is forced to meet with his in-laws, and life is not smooth for him because of it.
