what was the real reason that jennings mother kept putting him to foster homes?

the mother kept putting him into different places , why? whats the real reason was she too tired?

The reason is that she is too sick to care for him. The sickness is never, as far as I recall, specified. His father is basically a drunken bum.

I think she's sick, and like depressed because everyone argues, she's poor, etc.
