How did Barney finally convince Sydelle Pulaski to take the apartment?

Barney lied to her. He told Sydelle there was a long list of people waiting for the apartment.... that closed the deal.

“I have twenty people begging for this apartment,” Barney Northrup said, lying through his buckteeth. “Take it or leave it.”
