Petruchio tries to be bolder and more confidant than Kate. He uses his status of a man to basically overpower Kate. He matches her wit as well as uses irony to subdue Kate’s “rebellious” nature. Petruchio ,for example, decides to “kill (Kate) with kindness,” by pretending he cannot allow her to eat his inferior food or sleep on his inferior bed because his love is so great.
