In Chapter One, how are the soldiers feeling, and why are they feeling this way?

In Chapter One, the soldiers are on edge..... they are waiting for orders to move into battle. Most of the soldiers are happy to finally know the wait is over, others are frustrated, and still others are experiencing mixed feelings about actually participating in battle..... unsure of how they will react.
