The Socs represent entitlement, high social class, and money. Their parents have money and give their kids fancy cars, clothes, and other things. There is a lot of peer pressure among them to conform to superficial standards. Cherry Valance laments the difficulties being a Soc even though they seemingly have everything.

Socs are the ones with fancy clothing, money, beat up Greasers, and get drunk. Greasers work for their money, live in smaller houses, and drop out of school. Greasers are known for robbing stores and their greased hair.
