Why is it so difficult for Santiago to fight this fish? With what words of praise does he speak of these big fish?

The Marlin is massive in size. It is incredibly strong. Santiago must fight the fish on the fish's terms. It takes everything he has and then some to catch it. Santiago refers to the fish as majestic and his brother.
