in the beginning of the story, why is Mathilde so unhappy with her life

Madame Loisel is unhappy with her financial circumstances. She thinks herself cheated of the finer things in life and wishes for more of everything. Fine furniture, jewels, clothing, opulence...... she dreamed herself cheated of these things and envied those who had them.
