During much of our world's history, "survival of the fittest" was actually a law of nature. Today, this philosophy doesn't really apply to the modern world, and yet, it still holds true in Third World countries. Countries lacking clean water, food, modern equipment, vaccinations, skilled physicians and the ability to earn a living or support their families will experience the loss of the its weakest members. The quote in question, however, is voiced by a condescending man, who sees himself as superior to others.
