Gregor's family becomes increasingly isolated from Gregor. Really, it is only his sister Grete that attends to him and soon even she looses interest. The family actually becomes more self-reliant, even happier. They get jobs, earn income and carry while Gregor isolates himself in his room. Check out this GradeSaver link as well,
