Frodo, like his Uncle Bilbo, is a reluctant hero. He takes on the responsibility of destroying the ring, goes on a quest to save his beloved homeland (the Shire), faces his own doubts and faces the evil he has no wish to be a part of, and in the end, tries to finish his journey alone to keep those he loves safe (namely Sam).
