what does borimir want to with the ring? why

Boromir wants the ring in order to take control and use its power. His first thoughts are honorable, as he believes that by possessing the ring, he can drive away the troops of Mordor and save the day. None-the-less, his desires aren't all admirable. He'd also like to possess the ring and make himself king.
