Why does Hosseini include the brief flashback to Amir’s childhood just as he and Farid are arriving at Baba’s house? What is the significance of the memory about the turtle in relation to the reality of the “fallen splendor” of Baba’s house(262)?

I think that the flashback of painting the turtle represents better times: a time of innocence for both Amir and Hassan.
