The Great Gatsby

What does Tom get out of his affair with Myrtle? What does Myrtle get out of her affair with Tom? How are their situations different and similar?

Tom gets to have a "discreet" affair with a woman of lower class that he is sexually aroused by. Myrtle gets certain financial favors from town. While she is with Tom she is treated to money and booze. Myrtle of course can be dumped by Tom at his whim. Tom will go on being rich with or without Myrtle.

Thanks

No worries!
