The Great Gatsby

Is it right that the ended in a tragic way and not a happy ending? If you had a chance to end the play, would you choose a happy ending or a dramatic one, how would you end?

In my opinion, Fitzgerald ended the novel in the only way open to him. Looking at the setting and considering the characters....... their social staus, and their individual characteristics, there was no other way. The writing was on the wall from the beginning.
