What does ma try to tell Rose of Sharon?

Ma is fearful of getting stopped and having the family forced to break up. Also, Gandmother is dead and Ma would like to bury her in California. Rose complains that her husband Connie has run off to learn about electricity. Ma tries to comfort Rose, "Connie's thinkin' all the time." By the time the Joads move on to cross the desert, Connie has returned.
