What was Eddie's father's last act? Why do you think he did this? (pgs. 135-140)

Eddie's father's last act is to give up his own life for a friend.... even if that friend betrayed him. He saves Mickey out of a sense of loyalty..... and in my own opinion, an act of forgiveness.
