The Drover's Wife

why does the boy say to the mother>".....i won't never go drovin' blast me if i do!"

"Mother, i wont never go drovin' blast me if i do!" And she hugs him to worn-out breast and kisses him, and they sit thus together while the sickly daylight breaks over the bush.

That's the full paragraph.

The boy wants his mother to know that he will never leave her.... that he will not let her be alone. The little boy understands the hardships and dangers his mother and family face without a man to protect them.... he wants her to know that he will be there to protect her in the same way she has been there for him.
