I think that Anne brings the context and perspective of an average teenage girl caught in the chaos and evil of the Nazis during WW2. Anne is Jewish but it is her adolescent traits that readers connect with. Anne grows and matures throughout her time in the annex into a young woman of great insight into human nature. I think that people appreciate being let into Anne’s world.
