In her last entry, on August 1, Anne talks about how there are "two Annes," the public Anne and the private Anne. She wonders what she could be like "if...there weren't any other people living in the world." Her world would have been difficult, always being under watch. I would have to say I sympathize more with the public Anne..... that would have been the mask she put on when she had no other choice.
