There is little else to say than it was brutal. The Gestapo or German State Police had their orders to systematically "process" Jews in Hitlers ill fated attempt at "ethnic cleansing". The Gestapo were merely part of a larger machine that would carry out Hitler's objectives against the Jewish people. There are few stories, that I have read, of individual compassion from these guys. They seemed intrenched in the general hate and misinformation the Nazis hammered into their people. They were often rough, lifeless and cruel. They seemed indifferent to the human suffering before their own eyes. It is little wonder that many of them were hunted down after the war and tried for war crimes.
