Anne is treated more like an adult by her father to whom she is very close and from whom she receives lessons.  She is calmer, much like he is, and she tends to be reflective as she writes in her journal on a regular basis.  Such adult treatment and such ability to reflect are actually the qualities of someone older than she is.
