anne constantly talks about her inward and outward selver. what did she mean by this ?

Anne often expressed the idea that there were "two Annes." She felt there were the lively happy Anne seen in public and the more introspective Anne when she is alone. She finds her two sides aggravating because they are so different. This of course has much to do with teen angst as it does with the stresses of living in a cramped space.
