Who would you give more sympathy too out of the three Characters given and why?

Three characters given were:

1) The mother Judy Boone

2) The dad, Ed

3) The son, Christopher

Which (and why) character deserves more sympathy

(Prefer that only the people/thing that answer this question have actually read this book)

Note: The family has a rough life, mother cheated on father, father and mother not together anymore, child has Autism

2) the dad............ he's taken on the responsibility of caring for his autistic son alone. Certain decisions he's made might have been the wrong decisions (saying Christopher's mother was dead), but he thought he was doing the right thing. Working with autistic children I can support that they live in a world of absolutes, black and white (for the most part). Explanations would have been difficult, therefore I understand the explanation he gave.
