The Crucible

In act 3, look at the scene where John Proctor tries to prove the girls are frauds. What is ironic about this?

I need some help with this one.

The girls, lead by Abigail, start pretending to see spirits and birds. It is obvious they are frauds yet accuse Proctor of speaking lies.
