The Crucible

how do you interprete the few lines of dialogue on pages 52 and 53 beginning with 'Ithink you're sad again. Are you?', and ending 'I thought better of it since'? Innother words, what is the feeling behind the words John and Elizabeth are saying?

pages 52 to 53 act two

The two characters have become like strangers, there isn't any openess in their dialog, and it sees they no longer know what to say or how to speak to each other.
