Describe the character of john procter. is he independent or a follower? honest or, hypocritical?

John Proctor is an honorable and honest man. He's made a mistake by having an affair with Abigail while she lived in his home as a servant. He lives with guilt everyday and allowed Abigail to seduce him because his marriage was unhappy and his wife distant. Some would see him as hypocritical; I see him as human.

John Proctor shows no respect towards his wife , as he has an affair with Abigail Williams. However he loves and cares for his family. He become a courageous man , after realising that he has to be punished for his sins of adultery.
