The Summoner was enraged by the tale that the Friar told, quaking in anger. Since, he says, you have all listened to the Friar lie, please do listen to my tale. Basically the Summoner humiliates the Friar in his story, it can get pretty gross. Suffice to say the tale involves twenty thousand friars swarming around Satan's "arse."

The friar is portrayed of clueless about Heaven and Hell. He is clueless to his own corruption as well hence the whole "arse" thing.
