Why, do you think, the author included entries from the dictionary/thesaurus given to Liesel by Ilse Hermann?

When Liesel records the dictionary entries, she is looking for ways to both understand and explain her story. The most painful parts of her story are difficult for Liesel to express..... she can't find the words, thus, the dictionary/ thesaurus becomes a part of her record.
