Adele is the epitome of a good and caring mother. She plans ahead, prepares clothing for the winter months during the summer, and supervises her children. 

Edna, as we can see in the text, has no interest in the duties of motherhood. Edna simply wants to enjoy herself while others care for the children's needs.
