When the boys lay down to say their prayers, they are immediately attacked by their consciences. They felt guilty for running away, for stealing..... for breaking one of the Bible's commandments. Before going to sleep they vow to never steal again.

In term of becoming a pirate, Huck was worried his clothing wouldn't fit the bill. He wasn't worried about what pirates did..... he was worried about fitting in.
