I think there are two definite cultures in St. Petersburg. There is a frontier culture and a classic Southern culture. The frontier culture is less refined and than Southern proper culture. Frontier type people were considered of a lower class and certainly had less money. A character like Huck Finn or Muff Potter would be considered of low class. More Southern genteel culture may have old roots in the town from a family of wealth and good breeding. THey are also educated. Somebody like Judge Thatcher would be considered this.
