The Duke tells Huck and tells him Jim was sold to a farm several days away and threatens Huck in order to keep him silent. This is an example of the sort of people the Duke and King are. Beneath their comic appearance that are nasty individuals with no sense of loyalty or friendship. Tom also pretends to be his brother Sid at the Phelps house.
