Huck Finn- Huck is an adventurer at heart. Twain develops Huck's character as a counter-culture hero who begins to realize his own code of honor is different from what is accepted in the American South at the time. He, for example, comes respect and treasure Jim's, the runaway slave's, friendship. Huck does not accept the King and Duke as harmless charlatans. He sees the damage they are doing to people's lives and acts against them.
