Chapter 12 - Solutions - Exercises - Page 510: 12.13

Answer

Fractional distillation can be used to separate the two liquid components of the solution.

Work Step by Step

First we heat the flask containing the solution. The more volatile solution will vaporize first. It will is collected but passing it through the tube covered by a water pipe, which causes the condensation of the solution. Then this will collect the more volatile component of the solution. And the less volatile component will be left behind. As a result, we will have two separate pure solutions.
