Answer

When CFCs react with Ozone, they produce Cl ion, which starts a cyclic reaction in which Cl- ion is produced at the end of every reaction which is free to react with more Ozone molecules. A single CFC molecule can destroy up to 100,000 Ozone molecules under right conditions. While in HFCs, no chlorine ion is produced and hence they have limited damage.
