Chapter 13 - DNA and Its Role in Heredity - 13.1 - Experiments Revealed the Function of DNA as Genetic Material - 13.1 Recap - Learning Outcomes - Page 270: 3

Answer

When the scientists infected bacterial cells with radioactive T2, only marked DNA was found in the bacteria. Viral coats were removed from the infected bacteria and were then centrifuged to pellet the bacteria, also restricting the labeled protein to the supernatant. Hence, this showed that DNA is the genetic material and not protein.
