Chapter 23 - Assess - Page 527: 8

Answer

8. c. comparative biochemistry

Work Step by Step

Comparative biochemistry studies the similarities and differences in types of molecules in different species (organisms). For instance, genes ( DNA sequences) that code for different substances ( chemical molecules) have varying degrees of similarities from species to species. Thus, the genes that code for cytochrome c are similar in humans, chicken, and mice; also, certain amino acid sequences in the globin part of hemoglobin are similar in humans, gorillas, and chimpanzees.
