Chapter 22 - Assess - Page 501: 2

Answer

2. c. DNA replication

Work Step by Step

In DNA replication the DNA molecule copies itself. First, the DNA molecule loosens, then the strands of the double helix are separated by enzymes called helicases. Next, a primase enzyme assembles a short length of neucleotides -- a primer. A primer is attached to each unwound strand. Starting at the primer the enzyme DNA polymerase then replicates each DNA strand.
